If you’ve got this far you’re a do-er! You’ve done it—after all the planning, packing, cleaning, sorting, and storing, you’ve locked the door behind you and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. Congratulations!
Before you fully switch off and relax, there are a few quick things to tick off to make sure your transition into full-time travel goes smoothly. I’ve just gone through this myself, so I’ve documented it all to make things simple (marg in hand is optional, but encouraged 🍹) – trust me you’re nearly there!

✅ Your First 24-Hour Travel Launch Checklist:
1. Change Your Mailing Address And Update Your:
– License
– Insurances (caravan, health, home, boat, car, etc.)
– Bank
– Medicare, centrelink, MyGov
– Super ect
2. Update Your Home Insurance:
– If you sold your home: cancel your home and contents insurance entirely or;
– If you’re renting it out: switch your policy to a landlord insurance policy.
We use AAMI (around $1699/year) for building insurance, and Terri Scheer (around $455/year) for loss of rent and tenant damages. Our stuff is stored in our garage, which is covered under the policy too.
3. Cancel Your Utilities
- Electricity
- Gas
- Water
4. Cancel Your Internet Plan
Don’t forget to give them notice (if you haven’t already like us) so you don’t keep getting billed.
5. Call Your Nearest and Dearest
Let them know you did it! You’re officially on the road!
6. Grab Yourself A Drink And Celebrate That Milestone!
In my opinion, this is the most important step so if you haven’t already grab a beverage or two and enjoy it! All that hard work and planning has FINALLY paid off and you deserve it!
Pin this list, save it for later, or send it to a friend who’s about to take the leap too!
